Use 4-5 inch lengths of matching yarn to tie your pom poms onto the wreath frame. If you like, you can trim your pom poms for a neater look, but unless one piece of fringe was much longer than the rest on a pom pom, I left mine alone. Slip your scissors through the loops and cut near the top of the loops to create the fringe of your pom pom. (I tied my length of yard around the center of my loops 2 to 3 times to make sure it was secure.) Pinch your loops of yarn in the center and tie your cut length of yarn around the middle. Cut a 4-5 inch length of yarn in the same color as your pom pom. I made used about 40 pom poms total for my wreath.Ĭarefully slip the bunch of yarn off your palm, being careful not to disturb your loops of yarn. (I wound the yard around my palm 60 times for each pom pom to make big, fluffy pom poms.) I made my pom poms as I went along, alternating colors, but if you like, you could make a bunch of pom poms in each color to start out at first. Simply wrap the yarn around the palm of your hand until you get the size of pom pom you’d like. To start the project, make your pom poms. ![]() In all, this project cost me less than $15. You may need more or less yarn, however, depending on the yardage and thickness of your yarn.(My skeins each had about 64 yards each of yarn.). 4 skeins of yarn (I used 2 skeins in white, 1 in blue and 1 in green. The project took me about 3 to 4 hours to complete, but I am a slow pom pom maker and I was watching HGTV while making my pom poms. Instead, I created an easy pom pom wreath that could work for Christmas, or just about any time of year! My kids love how soft and fluffy our new wreath is! ![]() I recently put away the Halloween decorations in my home, and my house was looking a bit bare. Because my husband prefers to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas (he doesn’t believe in rushing the holidays), I decided not to put up the Christmas decor just yet. I am happy to be here today, sharing my latest home decor DIY project, an easy and fun pom pom holiday wreath.
